Colourful Mosaic Socks

More info on these socks

I asked M to take a photo with his "real" camera as I couldn't get a decent photo with all the contrast. As it turned out the colour combo didn't enhance the pattern.

More Beaded Socks

The colour red was gorgeous - the colour in the photo isn't really accurate.

Sockdown September 2014

A quickie project to take on the road. We headed to Taupo to meet some friends from Southern California to spend time with them..... It rained and rained and was freezing cold....so rather a lot of knitting.

Starflower Socks for Me!

I wanted to see how this pattern
They will replace my
Tetris Socks which have been darned and are pretty much on their last legs ...or heels!

Check out my Ravelry page for more info.

Charity Socks

The yarn is 80% wool and 20% nylon which is a bit higher in man-made fibre than I normally like to knit with. I think they might be a bit more hard wearing which might be a positive aspect.

The yarn is Huckleberry Knits and the colour is Rock Candy from my favourite online yarn supplier

Socks for Brigid

My friend wanted a pair of socks like the ones I was wearing at the time. So here they are. This Tetris Sock pattern makes a great pair of socks using up the leftovers from other projects. I find sewing in the ends a bit tedious and don't bother unless it is crucial. I've told Brigid that they will be a bit "hairy" on the inside.

Sushil's Mother

In 2009 we visited Nepal and met up with my friend Sushil. He took us to his parents house up in the hills and we met them and his wife. This was a very special and memorable experience.

I posted (from Nepal) a pair of hand knitted socks for his mother. They never arrived. It was disappointing but not exactly surprising. Now I have another pair for her.

Great yarn from my favourite yarn supplier

I will post them and make a special prayer to the god of travelling socks to help them to their destination on the other side of the planet at the country at The Top of The World.

See my Ravelry page

12 Sept 2014 Sushil sent me an email to say they had arrived... So post from NZ to Nepal does get through.

Unnamed Socks

I nearly forgot to include these. they're unnamed because they are going to a charity in Bend Oregon that distributes them to homeless folk. The winters can be very cold and I hope woolen socks will alleviate the cold in their feet.

I hope the recipient enjoys the bright colour.

Katniss Everdeen Charity Socks

I made these very large socks and will send them off to Bend Oregon Community Services who distribute to the homeless. Hopefully the reinforced toes and heels will make them last a bit longer.

Yarn is from my favourite online yarn supplier.

Check out my Ravelry page.

Charity Socks

I'm very pleased that I'm getting better at reinforcing. Check out my Ravelry Project for details.

I found the yarn buried in my stash that dates back prior to my departure to Australia in June 2012 for the big circumnavigation.

New Socks for Deb

My friend is very fond of pink. Socks wear out quickly and it's winter again and she's just had a birthday so let's hope they will be a good fit for her and not a disappointment (ie too small or too tight)

The pattern is called Temperance from Ravelry.

The yarn is Light of Love from my Favourite online yarn store

I've been working on a method of using two strands of yarn knitted separately (bit like mosaic knitting) to reinforce the heels and toes by using a scrap yarn. I'm hoping to improve the durability and longevity of socks.

Baby Jacket

I don't usually make anything except socks. Our friends Barbara and Seb recently had their first child hence an easy jacket.

My latest pair

This great yarn was from My favourite yarn shop and made up into great socks. I don't yet know who these are for but I like the side panel I made. See my Ravelry page.

Charity Socks w NZ Yarn

Another pair with reinforced heel. I'm getting better at this. Check out my Charity Socks w NZ Yarn on my Ravelry page.

Charity Socks to go to Bend OR

I made a reinforced heel for these. Check out my Ravelry page

Amber's Socks

Amber was quite happy to have beaded socks knowing she would have to hand wash them. For full details see my Ravelry page

Marco Socks

These were very reluctant socks. I needed more than the usual amount of yarn so had to source an extra hank from Australia. So they sat around unfinished for a while and in the meantime I completed the Tetris Socks

Go to Man's Socks for details of yarn etc

Tetris

These were made entirely from leftovers - most of them 100% wool but the odd glen might've slipped in. I thought I would use all my scraps but no I still have enough to make another pair of these or something similar.

The only drawback is the what seems to me to be hundreds of ends to sew in...as you can image I've decided to make them my own socks and therefore haven't bothered....

Socks for Hermine

Hermine is a friend who lives a very quiet life in a lovely forest in Holland.

I think she will appreciate the delicate beads and will have the time and patience to hand wash them!
