The next challenge

The Dragon Skin pattern by Barbara Walker will be appreciated by my sister - it is the year of the dragon! I'm just hoping they won't be too loose for her. I'm knitting them 2.5mm needles. They will also go into the First Quarter Challenge

The Second Pair for the Challenge

...will get onto the needles later today... I have in mind to give them to my sister. The yarn looks so fabulous. Heritage Silk by Cascade

Raspberry Wool w Silk

The first pair of The First Quarter Challenge made with the Heritage Silk from Cascade purchased from The Loopy Ewe. I've made them for an older relative...yes members of my family are even older than I am! I hope she'll enjoy them. So they are will be winging there way to Melbourne later today. I used the Interlocking Leaves  pattern by Kelly Porpiglia from Knitty website.

The First Quarter Challenge

Heritage Silk Yarn has arrived and I'm gearing up to make my first pair of socks with the gorgeous Rasberry Pink yarn from The Loopy Ewe in the First Quarter Challenge

Splash of Lime

The picture is a bit "pink". The socks are only so-so. But they're for my brother-in-law. So when my latest order arrives from The Loopy Ewe with some great burgundy I'll make him up a "proper" pair of socks.

The scrap sock pile

I'm not sure all will make their way into the next project of scrap socks... maybe I'll go lightly on that lime green... but all of them were originally purchased from the world's best online yarn outletThe Loopy Ewe

The white lacy socks for my good friend

They are finished but they made themselves difficult! I had to undo and redo parts. I'd get lost - thinking I could multi task...
They are finished but became a bit of a nightmare!
Even at the end when I cut the yarn to do a stretchy cast off on the second sock I made the yarn about three inches too short....
...on on to the next pair... another pair of scrap socks...

Very Excited!

I resist much of the online community stuff because it takes me away from my knitting ...LOL!

But...

I've been buying stuff from The Loopy Ewe based in the USA since April last year when My Aussie online source closed. They are reliable and good value. Even with the cost of shipping to NZ they are still competitively priced yarns...and the range is fantastic. They're are good quality yarns.

Being a regular customer provides other benefits - one of which I've just discovered today.

If I knit up a pair of socks in yarn (with a bit of silk) purchased from The Loopy Ewe before beginning of March and post a picture on their blog I, not only get the big discount on the yarn but another discount towards a future purchase.

How difficult will that be for me!

Socks for Margie

Having sent off the socks to Joe in Concrete WA I have moved on to a new pair.

In a couple of weeks we'll be house sitting in Island Bay for my friend and taking care of her cat whilst she is off touring in her classic car.

She had asked for a pair of white lacy socks

I found a chart for Barbara Walker's Traveling Vine knitting pattern on Persian Pen

I'm knitting them up in The Loopy Ewe's own brand called Solid Series .

Maybe her socks will be ready before she heads off.
