2nd Quarter Challenge

The challenge was to use a cotton yarn....it's coming up Spring in the Northern Hemisphere so it makes sense to them.  I found it rather challenging to get the right tension in a yarn that was more like a DK but needed to be close weave for socks. I used 3.00mm circular.

When I've made cotton socks before I've found myself short of yarn...somehow it just needs a bit more than 100g. So I ordered 200g and it certainly needed the bit extra.

Here they are...a tiny bit short for me but will fit my sister for sure.

Finally Waikato Home Owner Socks

At last I've made a pair that I think will fit her. She's elderly so I figure she'll appreciate a pair of hand knitted socks to keep her tootsies warm in the winter. Yarn from The Loopy Ewe.

It knitted up very nicely but on rather small pins (2.25mm) but they're stretchy too. A yarn I have not tried before but have been very pleased with....

I posted them up to Waikato before photographing them...so thanks Marco for the creative pic!

Arch-Shaped Cuff Down

If you prefer to make cuff down socks. Here's a free pattern from Ravelry

Arch-Shaped Toe Ups

I am a fan of toe up socks. Usually I can get them the right length and don't run out of yarn. Arch shaped socks also have a nice fit. Again, I'd like to acknowledge the blogger who kindly makes the instructions for toe arch shaped socks.... thanks to Yarnmando. I'm very grateful for his easy to follow instructions. I made them with the wider heel for experimentation but ...

Yarn was from Loopy as usual in this fun yarn. So they are awaiting a home.

They look pretty strange just loose...maybe I should get Marco to make me a sock blocks!
